Smaller coil

Does anyone out there use a smallthan stock coil? I am looking at purchasing either the 5 or 8 inch Sunray coils. Are you happy with it it? Do you find that you have better target separtion? How is the depth? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Jay

I use the Coiltek 5 x 10 coil as my main coil now, it gets close to the same depth as the stock coil, is a lot lighter and easier on the arm and I am very happy with it in trashy areas.

I am using the 5" EXcellerator coil and love it for trash infested areas. I have found no real loss of depth.

no loss of depth, good target separation and a lot less singing!!

I've got an excallibur 5" coil and I love it for trashy areas. Of course you can't cover as much ground in a given time period, but who cares, when the trash is so bad you start going fruit loops with a regular coil. It really does seperate the trash much better and makes it much easier to zero in on a given target.

Hello Jay.....I use both the 5" and 8" Sun Ray coils on my Quattro, and on my Explorer SE. To put it into one word, AWESOME!

In fact, I use the 8" as my standard coil now (much better balance and far less arm fatigue), and only switch to the 5" when it gets real trashy. Depth is superb on both, and separaton on the 5" is unbelievable!
