Smaller coil: which one?

Hi,
any experience with smaller coil? I'm divided between minelab 8", Excelerator DD 7x4 and Excelerator 5".
Please help me to choose.

It's the Minelab coil and is actually about 7.25" in diameter.

It's almost as deep as the stock coil and much more useful where I hunt because of the better target seperation. I've got the 5" Excellerator on the way, so I can't comment on it yet.

I haven't had my XS for very long, but I'm still finding alot of old coins on some badly thumped sites with that 8". It's helped flatten the learning curve for me... I don't think I even like the stock coil very much after using the 8.

and it is very stable. I think it's good in nails and as for depth....because you can crank up the sensitivity so much...I don't think the stock coil has much advantage over it. If it wasn't for the coverage...I would probably not take mine off. Because of my limited hunting time though...I run the 10 x 14 more as I obviously get a lot more ground coverage.

Wide open sen. 32 and all metal and dig qts. at 10" dimes at 9" down here. Excellent on the small gold too. Mine stays on my SE 80% of the time rest of the time I use my Joey or 10X14 Excellerator coil which I love but the areas I hunt are so trashy that the Joey and the 4X7" are better for me. If I am at the beach the 10X14 goes on. The Excellerator coils are excellent coils for the Explorers hands down. I might even get me a 6" Excellerator I like them so much. Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

I have the 5" eXcelerator coil. I like it for the high trash areas and it's easy to pinpoint. It saves having to dig big holes and the coil will actually fit down in a small hole for help in locating items.

I have the 5" Excelerator coil and it works great in specific trashy, multiple target areas like in front of football stadiums, picnic areas and play areas in parks. Digging coins at 6" every day. We've had rain and the soil is moist. Good target response. Finding coins in hunted out areas. Easy to separate targets and know what you're digging before you dig. Have the 8" Excelerator coil on the way!! These coils are awesome. For big areas like football field, switch to 8" or stock coil. Tones and Depth readings are accurate with the Excelerator coils. HH.
