Smaller coil for a BH and other stuff.

My BH Elite 2200 is like the Discovery 2200, I have been told. I want to know if a smaller coil or a larger coil can be used with the Elite 2200.

I understand that BH sells a 4" coil and I want to know is this a direct plug-in substitution for the original coil?

Also, when detecting around steel playground equipment or chain link fences, what tricks can be used to minimize the above mentioned items from interfering with searching the soil for valuables?

Thanks,

Mark

[size=medium]The 4" coil plugs in just like the stock coil...I bought a second lower rod and have the 4" on that, so all I have to do is switch rods and not mess with the bolt that holds the coil to the rod...too easy to loose in the field.
Most playgrounds up here in NY have a liner at about 6" deep...this is for rain runoff, and also to keep the mulch or whatever they use to fill the tot lot from sinking into the ground...Since you will not (should not) dig below this liner, you should turn your SENS down to 12 o'clock or even 9 o'clock...this will lessen the sounds you will get from the metal poles, and also from any nearby electical interference. Remember you coils pick up from the top and the bottom, so move those swings aside when detecting under them. Keep your DISC all the way down if you want to find those lost gold rings...

Thats a good question. I am planning on getting a Discovery 2200 in the near future and was wondering the same thing regarding the standard type Bounty Hunter coils and their compatability with the Radio Shack and other retail chains variants. I was also curious if the 4 & 10 inch Bounty Hunter coils will fit that brands detectors with the 7.25 inch coil as standard equipment such as the Fast Tracker, which is being shipped to me in a few days.

As I stated above, I have a genuine BH Land Star, with stock 8" coil, and a Radio Shack made 4" coil...no different from the BH coil.

HH,

I did some checking and the answer is yes, the Bounty Hunter 4, 8 & 10 inch standard model coils will fit your Elite 2200 or the Radio Shack versions. Hey GoGo, Radio Shack does not make detectors, or even coils...he-he. Just messen with ya man, have a good one.

You are correct sir...The ones made for Rat Shark is what I should have said, but my box does say Raio Shack on it...go figure...
