Small Tombac Button

I've dug several Tombac buttons but this is the first with a pattern on it. It is a cuff size button. Pictured next to a dime in the second photo. Buttons made out of Tombac material date to the late 1700s. Found it with the 6x8 SEF coil in an iron / square nail infested pasture site.

That's a nice one. I have a few with designs in them. What amazes me about these tombac buttons is how well they retain their finish after a couple hundred years in the ground!

Too bad we didn't use that tombac alloy for cents rather than bronze.
