Small Piece of silver

This small piece of silver has prongs on it that were used to hold something in it. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Was found at old schoolyard. Thanks Kim
 
Looks to me like it was broken off a larger piece, like a bracelet. Might have held a stone(?).
 
Looks like the top of a ring that is flattened.
 
looks like the top part of an older antique silver ring that once held a stone and was sadly hit with a mower? Bummer it wasn't complete but I would rather find a piece of precious metal than nada:) HH!
