It's good in areas with lots of iron and trash with very little loss of depth. Hope this helps.

If you hunt in trashy areas, yes!
Don't forget that a small coil also has super pinpointing ability and much less problem with EMI! There is some loss of depth, but not as much as you might think. You really have to tighten up your swing pattern so it is not going to cover wide open spaces in a timely way. I know these are "Duh!" comments but I earn my living stating the obvious. It has a place.
