Small Eagle Button Id.

Sgt.K

New member
Found this small eagle button near the spot in which I found the SC button. I know its not a great photo but it is a raised button with a series of stars circling around the outside edge. Any help in id'ing it will be nice.

Hey Sgt.

If it's what I'm think it is then it would be a CW-period Union staff officer's cuff button. It depends on the eagle type, which I really can't make out that well. If I am looking at it correctly, and the eagle's head is at "12:30," then it does appear to be a period button.

A later style eagle, with a raised shield, would indicate a post-war (some call it Indian War period) button.

Hope this helps.

Nice find, either way.

Richard

Thanks for the info RelicDigger, The eagles head is facing to the left and it appears to in the 1130 position. Also, there is a shield with line on it running from the 6-12 position.

I'm going to remain with my original vote on this one for now. I believe you have a CW period staff cuff button. I'd go back and check for more, that's for certain!

Nice button.

Richard
