Small Coil , Which one is the best?

Ok , so read a few posts and just don't want to buy 4 diff. coils and not use them. I'm hoping the 6" s.e.f. is going to be good .

Unless I am mistaken there is no 6" SEF. It is a round 6" Excellerator coil and SEF coils are not round. I have a problem with how all the coils now say they are for Spectras. The Excellerators never were. For example why is a 10X12 (black) made for Spectras, DFX, MXT, M6 etc but there is a white 10x12 SEF just for V3i, VX3.

It ain't right.

The only aftermarket coil that lets me run high settings is the WHITE SEF coils made to run on the V series.

And the people at the company with said advertisement can't give a valid answer to that question/curiosity. I called and asked them about that a few weeks back, and got no valid reply other than "they'll both fit and work on the V3i, but the white one only works on the spectras."

I have the 8x6 SEF if that's what you're talking about, and I'm actually contemplating the 4x6 now, just to see what I can pull out of some hunted out, *really* trashy vacant lots that I pulled a few things from with the SEF, but I know that some stuff is being masked or smeared by the larger footprint of the 8x6.

If it works on a V it will work on a E series, we all know that. As I said it ain't right.

If you want a coil for trashy areas, a whites V rated 4x6 or 5.3 is your best bet. The after market coils are a crap shoot at best, some work, some don't. IMHO, they ain't worth the trouble! If you are in a mineralized area, then the 4x6 DD is what you need. For lower minerals a 5.3 is hard to beat.

The 5.3 for trashy lots is an absolute must have. You will not find a better coil made today.

However new coils come out and a 6 inch sef in white would be great. Who knows if it will ever be made.

My sef 8x6 coil works great on my vx3 very low noise. I can crank it up and only issue is the 22.5 freq is off just slightly. Like one or two notches to the higher side thats it. Best small coil on the market

I tried a friends 6x8 yesterday onmy V3i,,,loved it. His was a good one, ran Rx15 and boost, no problems. If I absolutely knew the one I got worked that way, I woulda ordered one the same day, but that's no guarantee. It gets deeper than the 6x10 and is a nice footprint to swing. If you get into super heavy trash with pop tops, can slaw and bottle caps, etc...the 4x6 Shooter is supreme. I love that coil. The 6x10 is a safe bet for moderate trash but I feel mine has never really performed in depth like other people express theirs does.

I'm just having a little fun. Its OK to keep asking these coil questions, no harm done. We all learn by asking. BUT if you use the forum search feature you would find that this question has been answered hundreds of times. I typed in best coil and got 5 pages of answers. Some guys don't answer it anymore but all the answers are still there in past posts. There has never been a BEST coil found. For every guy who loves a coil there is one who hates it or at least doesn't own one. It depends on you, your hunting style, your soil, and your sites.

I can answer the question is there any problem with any Whites coils, NO.

Is there anything wrong with SEF coils? The null on some limit the Gain one can use.

I have the 10' d2 and the 6x10 d2 and the 4x6 d2

The 4x6 is surgical and great for hunting gold nuggets and trashy areas in parks.

The 6x10 is my full time coil which will separate trash from treasure but not as good as the 4x6d2

The 10" d2 is nuts in a trashy area like parks and such its only good for wide open areas and the beach...I still use my 6x10 on the beach though..:detecting:

Speaking strictly about White's coils, I have used both the 5.3 and the 4x6 coils for side walk strips and heavy trash and prefer the 5.3.. It seems to go a little deeper and separates very well. Of course my opinion might change if the soil was heavily mineralized or if I were nugget huntin'... They are both great for the trash....

If you do a lot of hilly/bumpy spots, parking strips (w/EMI above your head),and tree roots....hands down the 5.3. (No "second most important"....most important here.) This coil will either get you into places you can't go with another coil, or make pinpointing quick on uneven ground and in places you have to use circular/jabbing motions. (Depth is way disproportionate to it's size for sure.)

Edit: TX Boost and this coil is a match made in heaven for parking strips with EMI issues.

My favorite coil for coin and jewelry in trash areas is my whites 6 x 10 DD. Works Great as I continue to find that nice hit among trash.... including several Indians and a Barber dime at the old high school. Its my most used coil, has excellent pinpointing and soil mineralization is not an issue. My favorite is gold- as in rings. Just took a couple in and got 285 bucks for the pair. Great Hobby!
