Small Coil pulls a big target out of the beans

I went back to one of my bean field sties yesterday with the idea of trying the 6.5 coil on the LTD. I got there and I saw the 5 inch DD in the back of the car. I thought I had forgotten the other one so mounted the five inch and headed out. I was hunting right on top of the old house site. I had noticed the iron grunts, nails and iron before but wanted to try the small coil in the worst area. Right away I got a large cent type VDI and dug a really ornate metal lid. About ten feet further in I got another 60 to 62 VDI about seven inches deep. I was surprised when I saw how large the target was out of the hole. I rubbed it on my jeans and saw the town was Montpelier, IN. I recognized the building on the token. It is still a business building today. I didn't have much time to hunt but if winter gives me another chance I will get back out with the 6.5 for a try.

Great find!

I like to find these tokens more than coins of the same era... much more a sense of history I figure.

Don, That is a very nice find and I also like finding historical items like that. I really like that 6.5 coil on the LTD. Thanks for the pictures. HH Randy
