small coil for M6

Eric

New member
I bought a M6 recently and I like it pretty much. I have one question regarding small coils. The 4x6 DD is worthless on my IDX/ID. What makes that coil better in combination with the M6 or MXT?

Shall I just look for the 5.3 eclipse instead?

Thanks

regards, Eric [the Netherlands]

I agree with about 4x6" coil on an IDX and found the 350 snooper much better.
Didn't buy the 4x6" Eclipse because of the poor results on the lower frequency Whites, however some are posting excellent results using the 4x6" on the MXT DFX. I'm using the 4.5"x7" and 5" EXcelerator coils on an M6 and very happy with them. Also have the 5.3 Eclipse and seems just as good as the 5.3Bullseye.HH Bill

Eric Buy a 4.5X7 Excelerator, i use one on my M6 most of the time. Works great, good depth and good seperation on targets.

I cant believe what this little coil can do in trash and the depth is the best of any small coil I have ever used in my 33 years of detecting.I never tried the 5.3 some brag about or the Excellerator as this 4X6 we have does so good for my wife and myself.

why the dd coil seems to be weak on depth .I'm just going by my experience and others who posted same observations. The 6x10 and the other dd coils mentioned work great on the M6 and sure the 4x6"Eclipse will also just haven't used one yet. HH Bill

If the 5" Excelerator sold by Kellyco will work on the M6, ( and I think it will), it is a DD coil with excellent response, depth and seperation. I use it on my MXT and find it much better in trashy areas than the 5.3 coil, mostly due to its smaller size. Even the 5.3 coil (which is really more than 6" in diameter) is a good coil, though not a DD coil. I love the 5" excelerator on my MXT, and it is all I use for coinhunting. Kellyco can tell you whether it will work on the M6, which I understand to be an excellent coin machine. Good hunting!

using one on an M6 and agree with your assessment of the 5" EXcelerator. It's fun hitting the worst trash areas with the 5" EXcelerator coil and listening to the tones. HH Bill

I also like the DD coils. In fact I have the 6x10 DD mounted on my M6 all the time. For the real trashy spots I want a smaller coil. I really did not like the performance of the 4x6 DD shooter mounted on my IDX. I will check out the coils you mentioned for the M6.

Thanks to all who replied..........
