Small caliber bullet casing at 7inches

Went out for a few hours today and got skunked out at my normal place so I took a trip out to my old elementary school for a little bit and hunted around an old giant oak tree in the middle of the playground. Didn't turn up much, but I did find this very small caliber casing at 7 inches! Not sure the caliber, it looks like a 22 but it's way shorter than anything I have ever seen and has a lightning bolt shaped arrow on the bottom. So for anyone who has any doubts that the safari can't pick up smalls down deep here is your proof! P. S. If anyone has any ideas what type of bullet this is let me know

Yep, starter pistol blank. If figures being at an elementary school and probably used at a track meet or some kind of games a long time ago. I wonder if they use starter pistols at schools still? I very much doubt it!!

Yeah the crimped ends alway indicate a blank. Shot many in training excercises in the military. Still a cool find being so small. Gotta love the safari

You guys were right it is a starter pistol blank. I spoke with my old gym teacher and he said that when he started teaching there in the 80s his predecessor would start cross country track meets at that spot.
