Small button with the Compadre

Pulled this small button out of the front yard last Sunday. It's about the half the size of a dime. Buried about 6 inches down the Compadre had a solid signal on it set at the "N" in iron.

It looks really old. Nice going.

A friend who hunts historic sites just let me know it dates from around 1812. Likely lost here during the Seminole Indian Wars in the 1840's. It's cast pewter and hopefully has a few mates still out in the yard. There was supposedly a small fort near the river front about two blocks east of my place during that conflict. I'll have to be more careful with my settings and keep the Compadre set at the iron marking on the dial. I tried a few spots last night and that setting will yield much more small stuff like this

Man, an old fort just two blocks away. Id be digging every rusty nail signal. Post what else you find. Every find tells a story .

I found that the compadre will hit a 3 center @ 6" deep kinda amazed me
