I have access to a property right behind my house. It changed hands recently and the new owner has decided to cut all the pines, scrape the whole property, and generally stir up the ground...
It was a farm, the house was built in the 1920s but it is across the road from where a college stood in the 1850s, plus the Army of Tennessee and the Yankee hoard was all over this ground.
I hunted all around with my SE and found the little buckle with it. I found a couple of Rosies with a Cortes. I marked some iffy signals that I got with the SE and got out my Sovereign GT. I checked them with the GT and they were no longer iffy... they were solid tones and IDs.
The Wheaties are a 1918, two 1919s, a 1934, 1945, and a 1951. The GT also immediately found the little silver thingy that says "spoiled" and the round gold dangle. It is white gold set with small diamonds all around. The GT signalled a solid 80 from two directions. I checked it with the SE and it signalled a 12-01, I probably would not have dug it if I was using the SE, I would have thought it was a piece of aluminum can, it was shallow with grass roots growing through it.
I almost sold my GT a while back. I am glad I didn't. I have struggled for the better part of a year trying to learn the Explorer SE... to no avail. I will keep trying but I am going to be using my GT a lot more.
The picture isn't so good, sorry. The gold thingy is shiny and the little buckle is brass. There is also a large grommet and a small suspender clip. I have found a buckle like this before in a calvary camp, I found it away from the house. The propwert is about 4 acres.
