Slowly getting there...

I have been trying to locate a camp for a while now and I am slowly narrowing down were it is at. The place I went to yesterday was a spot with high potential and I finally caught the landowner at home. At first I spoke with her daughter (a teenager)about what I was wanting to do. She proceeded to tell me that when she was little she would find "buttons with little birds on them" in the yard. I about fell over when she told me this! I also learned Abraham Lincoln supposedly stayed at this house on his way to (or from) giving the Gettysburg address. Unfortunately I only had about 45 minutes to work the area. I managed some camp lead, one eagle coat, unknown brass, pocket knife, and some kind of brass latch. The latch has "CROSS, LONDON" on it. Possibly where it was made? Also got some silver, 64 and 56 quatuer, and a 1907 IH. It is going to take some more work but it looks like its starting ot pay off a little.

If there is a main camp, it will usually be within 200 yards of the main house. Look for elevated ground, even a slight rise and a good water source. Hope you find it. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
