Went for a hunt friday evening on the seawall. Was running the Excal from 630p-11p into a 06-03 235a .6L. Water was fairly calm, but winds were either w or wnw 5-10, so that was a good thing. Was all by myself in the peaceful tranquility of the Gulf. Been tinkering around with the unit to experiment on pushing it to the limits and what I ended up doing was 1 on discrimination, sensitivity clicked just out of auto and ran in pinpoint. Then when I got a signal, would switch over to Disc to check for ferrous. It seemed to work, but some of the coins must have been pretty deep because they almost were nulling and I got tricked by a nail or 2. That usually never happens. Anyway ended up with $3.34 in clad and only a couple pulltabs! A hair berrett, junk bracelet, junk pewter medallion with colored stones and a nice .925 ring which I was so proud to see in my scoop. Ready for gold, but will always settle for the silver. Was going tonight, but had to work late, tis our busy season. Probably will give it whirl tomorrow after church and got the brig ready for the lake on monday with Huntress.

from 2 to 3 maximum on discrimination. Because on 1 start to pick up some ferrous.
Nice silver by the way

Nice nut GH! You run your Excal in much the same set up as I do, same settings except for the pinpoint. Deep never seems to be a problem so far, I'm picking up targets up 18 inches down. I didn't think the Excal was supposed to have that kind of depth penetration but that's what I'm getting. All the sand is coral so that probably help.

May you find gold in your scoop soon.

Your mineralization may not be as high as ours, consequently you are getting the depth without interference. If I run in pinpoint then I can run clicked just out of auto and then I check for ferrous in disc after I get a signal.
