Now you know why I disappear from the beach shortly after the tourists leave and I don't show back up again until about the end of May. 
It's just TOO painful.
Until then I'll be content to dig up a few old silver and copper coins and the occasional bullet or button.

Mike, this is my first season. An recommendations for parking at the beach during tourist season?

Yes. Go in at 9th street. It's $1.00 for VB residents at the VB parking garage...from 5 PM until 5 AM. And the 19th, 24th, and 30th street city lots are the same, although they close at like 2:30 AM I think, so if you're doing the late night low tide thing like me, 9th street parking garage is the way to go.

Thanks, sounds like I will need a light. I'll probably use my head lamp I use for hiking. What time can you stop plugging the parking meters?

There's no time that you can park without feeding the meters. Not in the summer. They'll tow you in a heartbeat. And the spots are very hard to get.
