Here is a sling I made for helping relieve stress to arms/hands. Also allows you to let go of detector without setting down. I made this for free with the following from my work bench.
1 luggage/travel strap
2 bungee cords

I know there are items on market ez harness ans swingy thingy to name two for $30 and up. Even if you had to buy these parts...maybe 5-10 dollars at most.

Simply loop a bungee around detector and connect to other bungee. Then connect to travel strap. Adjustments can be made with either the strap or the bungees. Strap goes around the back of your neck like a tie.

I posted on DFX site thought I would drop on here also.

Thats cool but I can swing an XLT all day without wearing out. Now the Explorer XS...thats another story. Bought a swingy-thingy for it. Wish I had seen your post before buying it. Nice work!

Thanks! Been so bored lately waiting for the thaw in Illinois. I thought it might be helpful! The one I made seems to work and as you know accessories can get expensive!!!!!!!!! I am going to slightly modify it and try and use only one bungee cord and put some type of plastic or metal loop around detector shaft to secure bungee to and clean up the appearance a little.

And make yourself one. I made one yesterday and went today and really pulled up the ring tabs and pull tabs but also got 1 5gram mans ruby ring with a Script Old English 14kt. mans ring today. I made mine with more hooks and I have to tell you it made some real short work of digging pultabs and ring tabs and tinfoil junk. Took a little trying different teqs. but once you got it down it is very fast. Man so I like this thing. That is if you are just bored :D: :D: Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

That looks pretty good! Took me a while to find post! I also have heard about a lot of people wanting to put wheels around the coil. Think that would be quite a bumpy ride. The tab/ring puller is a good idea what is the basics for making it? Would'nt the blade scratch any rings you find, maybe dulling contact points. If you can drop us a large picture here.

I put more hooks (9) in and put more of a hook loop cutout at the top of the flat area. The hooks are smaller and I smoothed all the sharp areas to a more rounded edge. I pulled the ring with no scratch marks on it from about 4 or 5 inches. Just make one and play around with it a little and you will get it right. It is a real good tool. :D: :D:  Later Jerry aka Tinfoil

I like that idea and I am now making me one...I have a GMT with the 14inch coil and it does get heavy after swining for a while hunting meteorites.
Thanks for a great idea and sharing with us

I actually saw something like it on a minelab forum and used some of the same ideas. I did speak with that person and modified with items I had laying around the house. There are several ways to do it. I chose the least expensive for now. I think the key is to make sure you can make minor adjustments to the height you hold it at. I can do this with the bungee loop and the buckles on strap.

Some of the other ideas I saw using a bicycle inter tube, guitar strap, someone mentioned the material you find in furniture is very flexible. With the bungee you can also just tie it in knots around the detector. I tried that but the cord I found in my basement was a little to thick so I adjust using the buckles on strap. Make sure you adjust while wearing so you get the right height.

I am going to try to improve it and maybe spend a few bucks.<Not $30, MAYBE $5 TO $10.

For ideas you can also look at the ez harness and the swingy thingy. I want to have the bungee attached to the shaft using some type of plastic loop, but for now it works!

This is my wife wearing it. As you can tell she was not a happy volunteer! But I do not think she realizes how much fun I have detecting and playing around with these little things. Not sure when I get it exactly right if I will need the second bungee that is on there now. Also A secure plastic loop on upper shaft would be nice. But for now for some reason the second bungee seems to give me the right balance, which I don't understand because the swingy thingy and ez harness appear to just have one bungee....I will figure it out!
