Slight warp in my 5.75" concentric coil. I wonder if that's bad.

Hi all,

I have the 5.75" concentric coil for my Cibola and I noticed something funny about it today.

I took it off the staff and set it down on a flat table top and it wobbled when I set it down. Weird.

So I rocked it from side to side and noticed that there's 1/8" to 3/16" (estimated) warp in the coil.

I picked it up and looked at it head on and it is definitely concave with the side edges higher than the center.

The coil seems to work Ok so maybe it's not a big deal.

Is it something I should worry about? I wonder if it could cause the coil not to function correctly.

Hopefully it's not a problem because I'd rather not send it in.

Thanks.

You could ask the experts at tesoro by sending them an e mail from their link on their website - I understand their customer service is excellent.

The coils are epoxy filled and if they get hot and soften, they could warp which usually knocks the coil out of tune. Do you know if your coil was that way when you got it,or are you sure it was not? If you stored in a hot trunk it could have occurred at that time.

You might want to send it in just to be sure, have them check it over. It may seem to work properly but that warp could have an affect on how good (or poorly) it operates.

I store my machines and my coils in the back of the garage where it's cool and I only have them in the truck while going to or returning from a hunt.

I have used it while hunting on very hot days though.

I'll send an e-mail to Tesoro and ask them.

Thanks.
