Skunked?

Almost got skunked last Friday. I was in neighbors yard for about 90 minutes, about to give up, finally found a Lincoln penny. My pay scale wasn't too good that day. Did find a lot of lead chunks. I find a lot of lead in the yards around here. I guess the people back in the 1800s used a bunch of it for something, Bullets? fishing sinkers? what else?????????????

We all have had are off days, let me tell you! When looks like I may get skunked, I'll run over to a park that always will at least give up clad and hope for a ring!!:detecting:

hi walt, i often find globs of lead in old yards near the foundations of old houses. in the old days, copper and metal gutter was seamed together with molten lead. not only was the gutter put together on the ground near the roof lines, but was also repaired in place. i sometimes find the small lead ingots the gutter guys lost too. hh,

Hey, thanks Gray Ghost, I didn't know that. Learned something new. This old dog is-a-learning.
