I hope this is not confusing. It is totally non scientific and uncontrolled, it is what it is.
If the ET numbers are, for example, 11-12/ 42-45 the 11-12 is the ferrous range and the 42-45 is the conductive range of numbers. On a few I checked with the V3 using both the 10" DD and the 4x6 coil. I was using the 11" Pro coil on the E-TRAC, an 8" Coinsearch on the SovereignGT, a 5.75 DD on the Tejon, and a 4.75 on the T2. I was running the V3 in "coin and jewelry". I had to lower the RX gain to 3 but could leave the AM and disc gains on 55 and 88. On the dime I tried raising the RX to 6, it was still iffy and due to all the other chirps and twitters I was hearing from the V3 I would have missed it had I not known it was there. I need some ideas to help with this!
So...
#1 ... ET read 11-04.. foil; Sovereign didn't hit; V3 didn't hit; Tejon was "iffy"; T2 read 44-50... foil. Target was foil.
#2 ... ET read 12-17/18; Sovereign read 158-160; V3 read +17 to +25 with the 10" DD and +17 to +23 with the 4x6; Tejon read slightly above a nickel; T2 read 57/58. Target was a small brass key.
#3... ET read 12-31/33; Sovereign read 173; V3 w/10" read +49/+50 on both coils; Tejon read in the roundtab/bullet range; T2 read 73. (All these readings could have been a minnie, especially the Sovereign). Target was a corroded zinc penny, twice cut with a lawnmower.
#4... ET read 12/14-43/44; Sovereign read 180; V3 read +75 on both coils; Tejon read coin; T2 read 81/82. Target was a bronze memorial cent.
#5... ET read 7/9-7/12; Sovereign read 134 to 157; V3 read all over -30 to +19; Tejon read in the round tab range; T2 read 59-60 (squaretab or button, possible brass). Target was a cable TV connector end.
#6... ET read X/33-34 (ferrous number jumped all over); Sovereign read 173-175; V3 read +50; Tejon read junk; T2 read 59-60. Target was a crescent moon shaped piece of thin aluminum about 3" long and 1/2" at the widest place.
The only good target I found was a 1940 mercury dime. I found it with the E-TRAC and then checked it with the V3. I would never have dug it with the V3. I was using coin and jewelry mode and could not get a good read on it. If I had not known it was there I would not have stopped on it. The V3 was getting some chatter from EMI that was not affecting the ET at all. The dime was about 6" down. I had the E-TRAC set on ferrous, two tone, relic pattern, auto+3, deep on, fast on, difficult ground, low trash.
I'll be trying some more comparisons over the weekend if you have any ideas for me to try. I wish I had thought to try "deep silver" on the dime but I didn't. In any case I usually hunt in "Coin and jewelry" and I try "Hi Pro" a little. The analize screen in Hi Pro confuses me.
