sites are drying up not much to post

If i was to dig all the trash at some of the sites i mine as well stay on the ground and crawl around with a mini detector.I know some people dig everything but be real i would be digging trash all day some of these sites are loaded with shredded cans foil pull tabs you name it its there and yes there probably is something hiding under something. It must have been easier hunting before or in the 60s before aluminum and pull tabs started to show up.I was born before that but wasn't into metal detectors then.I remember seeing those crazy old guys walking around with metal detectors what a bunch o kooks,i must have got to close to one look what happen to me i turned into one of them.Maybe a si fi series dawn of the metal detectors .I could see people running and screaming as hundreds of people metal detecting and digging holes in people yards and private parks and not filling in the holes as regular people fall in and disappear. My brother in law started to carry a bag to put the junk in when we go detecting sometimes he need two bags.

I know exactly what your saying about working a dried out spot. Had to hang around a ways from home to pick my son up. Turned out to be an unexpected 5 hours and decided to hit a huge old city park. No place is hunted out but...this place was a total wash for anything old. Was using a V3, tuned right and punching deep in Deep Silver, High Pro and the like. (I was picking up small bits of copper at 9" and a tack at 10"!) This is a place that I wouldn't normaly hunt as I knew it probably had been hit hard but...did get to play with a lot of programs extensively and learned a lot I guess! Left the place bushed and disappointed! Ah well!! Beautiful park!! Do needles fetch the same prices as foil?

it's tough to hunt for hours with little to show for it,however one must realize that "anticipation" can do it for ya physcologically to keep ya goin'!..sometimes its the only hand ya have to play!

Yes it does sometimes you hunt for a hour with nothing to show then just when you are about to give up bang a good target shows up and it means a lot it means all hope is not lost

excellent point!..perseverance goes a long way in this hobby!

I agree with JT. If it wasn't for anticipation I would have givin up on an old church 1880's maybe 1900 after about an hour or two, but anticipated silver or atleast a wheatie. Stayed with hope and anticipation as my motovation and after 3 1/2 hours finally hit strong signal and dug up my silver plated baby spoon. This place was even pull tab free and only gave up 5 roofing nails,1tin canning lid and a handle off a storm door. Who woulda thunk?? lol Keep huntin

unbelievable but TRUE!..i been at this for over 32 years, and i gotta tell ya straight!..without the anticipation factor.i would a been chasin' the little white ball around a long time ago!..

I hunt a really big park and don't find many good targets, but I do nearly always find at least one neat item. Not long ago I had given up and was on the way back to the parking lot. Got a shallow beep and dug just out of curiosity. It was a large 10k classring. This old park consistently produces something no matter how often I hunt it. Onus

Ah.......So true about finds getting scarcer, BUT WAIT!(as Billy Mays would say)time for making the transition from summertime finds to cooler-weather Civil War relics.....at least for me. :super:

Common places like parks and schools have been gettin hit hard.... the unfortunate reality is ... we have treasure hunters out of work.... with more time on their hands than before... if i had to choose between sittin around worryin about stuff.... or going out and maby finding a bit of luck to change my day around.... i'm goin huntin....
all isint lost though.... we just have to get creative about where we go.... there's new construction goin on all the time.... whch means bull dozer's and access to places we couldnt get before....i like checking out the hedge rows surrounding farm feilds.... farmer brown had to get off that tractor somtime..... feild workers like to sit under a shade tree for lunch..... i'll hit the over grown edges of lake and creeks.... they wern't always overgrown....i keep a pair of lopers in my truck.... i'm optomistic... and i keep finding stuff.... never give up:detecting:
