While in the Gifford Pincho National Forest a few weeks ago I went MDing in campgrounds. The searched areas were under large Douglas Fir trees that shed needles. It was my observation based upon the dates of the clad coins and pennies I found that the needles bury the coins about 1/10" per year. When MDing in the lawns of parks, it seems that the grass grows up, dies and deposits a layer of mulch which eventually becomes organic soil at about half that rate. So based upon those numbers, coins lost 100 years ago would be found 5" deep in lawns and 10" deep under fir trees.
Are there any MDs that can locate dimes and pennies 10" deep?
Which BH provides the best depth?
I think that I need to buy a 10" coil for my Elite 2200.
