Single ear headphones?

deathhare

New member
Been looking into either the DetectorPro Rattler or the Killer Bee's Stinger.
Both are single ear and both are about the same price.
Any reason I should choose on over the other? Any experiences?

Thanks

Both companies have good reps so I think either would be reasonable choice. Not having used either, I can't comment on whether one sounds better than the other.

Thanks. Im leaning towards the Rattler because of how the pad looks in pics. But thats just pics so who knows.
I figure they sound about the same but want the one that is most comfortable to wear all day long. :detecting:

I use the Killer Bee Stingers all the time. The reason I chose the Stinger over the Rattlers was the fact I could have a limiter switch added to them and not to the Rattlers. With my MXT, a limiter switch is important. I cannot speak of the audio quality of the Rattlers, but I do know I like my Stingers. Having used dual ear cup headphones previously, it took a little getting used to having the sound only in one ear. Hope this helps.

One thing, non acoustically , Ill say about duals, is theyre nice in the off season, that is they keep my ears and a good part of my head warm. Just saying. What was the reason some try the single, preferred ear?, can monitor the surrounds better? Thanks, CO

Yeah I want single because of sketchy parks I sometimes hunt or like Tom Dickey said...to hear other people in the woods with you.
I would never hunt in the woods with headphones on. Single phones I would so hence the shopping.

i have used my rattlers with four diffrent detectors now and lovem for keeping a ear out

Another happy user of Rattler headphones. I want to hear the machine and what's around me. One thing to keep in mind is they do clamp tighter on your head than dual phones. Some people don't care for this. It doesn't bother me.

I just took some headphones removed one of the earcups and clipped the wire :D Been detecting like that for years.

I use a pair of iPod style headphones and you can hear everything around you and hear the tones. I don't know if you can get a set that would switch anything but just letting you know you can hear your surroundings.

I have a set of Killer B's Wasps. The only reason I went with the B's was the leather ear cups. Both companies make great sets. But, if I ever purchase another set, there is no question it will be B's. They're that good, and that comfortable. Hope that helps a little

I have both The Rattlers & Bee's and like them both. The reason I use the singles is that I like to be able to hear what's going on around me. I have had people walk up right next to me with outeven a sound, plus I can talk to my hunting buds better with out yelling!!!!!

Yep Morerelic, safest way to relic hunt. I too, have one set of each brand. I hardly ever use my two cup Jolly Rogers (coinshooting in a trashy homesite is one place, but then I have my son digging for me and I tell him to keep his ears and eyes open and tap me if he hears or sees something).
