Single cup phones to suit Tejon ?

trueblue

New member
I been using Killerbee stingers on my tejon for a few years and there good phones just they dont lower the volume enough to stop me getting an mild ear bashing , Ive put up with it due to not wanting to buy another set'a phones as Ive tryed sun ray pro's a pair'a Kb wasps same problem the lowest volume setting on phones is still to loud .. I want single cup phones and am now considering trying or buying as I have to buy to try greyghost rattlers in the hope that they lower the volume that little extra .....hoping someone here can give me sound advice on a suitable single cup phone that actualy suits the tejon and alows the volume to be lowered to a comfortable level even better muted out completly at lowest setting ....advice appreciated

I use the standard Grayghost head phones (both ears) and I don't get any ear blast. As for one ear I don't know but the reason I got my Grayghost is because of the ear blast and mine work real well.

dio ya greyghosts lower enough to fully mute the volume on your tejon ? I dont get earblasts as such from overloadin or shallow targets the volume is just to loud at its lowest setting regardless on the KB's

Not sure what you are asking when you say fully mute, to me that would be completely off. But I have 3 detectors and just traded off a Fisher 1270 which was the loudest of all. With the Grayghost I can run any of them at max volume and I have full control to run it at a comfortable level all the time. The Grayghost have limiter in them that control that loud surface blast as well.

I have been using my Grayghost for over a year and I kind of forgot all about having any volume or blast. Just put them on and go. So I can say the Grayghost will tame the Tejon or any other detector you run.

thanks for the advice Ron , I spose I'I have to buy a rattler a give it a try there G/Ghosts so sould be the same

I was told to use 8 or 16 ohm phones on my units.but i have left the big muffs to the smaller one, not earbuds but like the old walkman phones. i also use an amp on them made by Koss, phones and all. they are louder--ie crisper sounding and helping me hear tones without splitting my ears. i am tone deaf to a large degree and cannot hear low tones. where these are to say not the stage speakers just a small speaker sound, not turned up to distort but be clear. the drawback is they cannot hold up to wading through bushes like normal heavyduty phone cords.

I like to use higher than 32 ohm for prospecting. I can really here the slight pitch on the threshold the higher the ohm's.

I read below some good answers........ Welcome to the forum...

Thanks,

Causing the trouble on stereo jack detectors, which is on Tesoros.I am on a Phone, having trouble typing.I verified this with Detpro, owner,he said yes,stereo/mono switch hphones are made
more for mono jack detectors. We need a call for straight stereo phones,no switch to be made for stereo jack detectors,so we can have proper volume control.Chuck SC.

thanks for the info Chuck , sounds crazy havin a stereo jack on a mono tone tesoro detector  I have been hanging the ph's and using'em as an external speaker they have the power no probs ....I hear what ya sayin but I will not be blowin any more hard earned cash in search of phs to suit the tesoro's , when I can grab the xterra with builtin volume control , I certainly wont buy any more detectors from Tesoro unless they add a volume control its that important to me

Trueblue: When I had my Tesoro I used headphones from Koss. I still use them. I had Black widow, Pro golds etc... I use KTX Pro1. I went on the Koss web site and did a quick look and I don't see them listed. I think this will work https://www.koss.com/en/products/headphones/on-ear-headphones/Recovery__Recovery_On_Ear_Headphone. When they are too loud I put the yokes forward of the ear and have the volume control almost off. They ride on the ear so you can move them around. I hunt in some bad areas and need to be listening to back ground noises also. Good luck....Z

thanks zeekeys ,I took a look at the link an yes they would be ok if I wer park hunting ect but Im done buyin ph's and have tryed heaps of stereo ipod ect types but all of'em are a pian as I mostly detect in scrub and they get hung up all the time , they lack the shorter wound coil cord found on decent detecting phs' ....love my KB stinger and theyhave had a good floggin and are well made tuff phs worth the $ just to lound at there lowest setting on my Tejon and if CW{SC} is correct in that its all to do with the stereo jack that tesoro use's and I bet he is then I'I just havta find a way round it \.....lately I purchase some balance volume controls with a 3.5mm jack on about 300mm lead and plan on fitting a small external speaker .......the thought of modding a stinger has crossed my mind they have the audio power and quality to make an awesome external speaker but I just cant bring my self to do it ...did modd some tdk's but they just didnt have the power at highest volume ..,I'I make somethin external up to get te job done ....find myself swinging the xterra on days and areas that I really want to swing the Tejon , all because the xterra alllows me to hunt quitely and comfortably without wearing phs ...volume control is something that should be mandatory on all detectors ....whats with an audio device not having an volume control
