Single 9 Volt Battery Life?

HaroldILL.

Active member
I was wondering You guys with single 9 Volt Tesoros what kind of Battery life You getting?
I have heard anywhere from 5-20 Hrs?
Also does depth drop when Battery gets weaker? Thanks.

Yea, 20 hours or close to it with my Compadre, maybe a bit less with my Vaq because of the little extra power drawing features like all metal or that pinpoint.
That is with headphones...don't use them and that battery drains way faster.

I rarely run the batteries down till dead but it happened a few times.
On the Compadre about 1/2 hour before it died the depth seemed ok but the disc got way less sharp and accurate and most tones sounded...fuzzy.
The Vaq I didn't notice much change in anything but there might have been.
Still found stuff but nothing real deep...I might not have come across anything deep at the time either.
It just turned off so I replaced the battery and carried on like usual.

Depends on brand too.
I've heard 5-6 hours on a Sunbeam from the dollar store. I'm between 20-30 on a good brand like Duracell or the panasonics they give you from Tesoro.
I've had good luck with rayovac pro also and they aren't too big either.
That's another factor I found. 9v heights vary greatly in height (bottom to top of leads). Duracell are the shortest cells but the leads are taller. Rayovac are larger cells but shorter leads so same overall height as Duracell. Lowe's utilitech are a bit bigger and about as big as I'd try to fit into my tesoros. I put another brand in for a while in one of my compadres that I had to push in pretty hard, and now the inside leads are smooshed a bit so if I use a Duracell I have to put folded paper under it or it won't hold to the leads tightly. Can't remember what brand, but wish I didn't lol

Yeah, I'm still using the original in my Vaq....Still getting all the beeps. at least 30 hours....

Yeah I noticed Battery size also. I use Duracell's as fit Perfect in the Golden and My CZ-3D. Little more money but worth it. Last longer also.

Same here. Duracell lasts and is the perfect fit for Tesoros. I get roughly 20 hours on a Duracell.

I get them off Amazon for ~$2 each so not bad

I could never get more than 12 hours out of a 9V in my Vaquero. I found when the battery got low it started acting weird. I used headphones, seldom ran supertuned and always used Duracells. I did run low disc so maybe the extra sounding off on junk ate through the battery quicker.

Speaking of prices, I see battery warehouse has the Duracell 1604 for 1.23 each in quantity of 8 and 5.95 free shipping....

Definitely checking that out!!
But so far only see 12 and 72 pack. 12 pack is 25...

I use the duracell's. I lookout for one's with a five year shelf life and I will grab a few 4 packs. Sometimes you have to rummage around in the back of the display for them and had the best luck finding the 5 year ones at home depot. I have never actually timed how long they do last. I usually toss them when down to 3-4 beeps. I have yet to find another one that did last as long as that panasonic one that came with it though, that battery lasted forever it seemed. The deals online i've heard are for older ones that only have like a year or even less of shelf life. I don't bother with rechargeable's, found that the regular ones last longer and they are cheap enough also. After buying the detector, detecting is a really cheap hobby and as for myself, not even worth the fuss of messing around with rechargeable's.

Thanks!!
I was looking at wrong place. I went to battery warehouse not battery warehouse direct.
Ahh well not on sale anymore.
I did pick up a 12 pack of Duracell pro for 16 on Amazon so I'm set for a while.
I'll keep that place in mind though!!
Is it always free shipping?
I must have misunderstood your post you wrote plus 5.95 free shipping.
Site says as much or as little for 5.99 shipping.
And are they genuine Duracell's? There have been a few on Amazon that the Duracell company has come out and said they are not genuine and that they are not made by them.
I'll await your answer before placing my order.
Also, how do the 8 packs come? In blister packs? I'm looking at a 64 pack ( 8, 8packs)
But don't want to buy that many if they aren't genuine.

The Rayovac alkaline have as much life as Duracell- no false advertising there, IMHO.
I agree. I use the rayovac pro from work and they're great.
But the ones he posted above are crazy cheap!!! They really are 1.23 a cell for the duralock coppertops.

I believe it says 5.95 Flat rate shipping on all orders, no matter the size...
I kind of lucked out on Saturday, went with my Wife to the local Nursery to look at some plants, and they had the 2 packs of Of the Duracell's marked down to 3.00. They were originally marked 9.99/. Picked up 2 two packs for 6.00

oh yeah, it's a big time company. I would have no concern about them being legit Duracell...... I normally go thru Battery Junction, they are really good too. I've bought a lot of CR123's, and other rechargeable from them...

Awesome. That's a really good price. I thought I did well when I got 8 for 15 on Amazon lol.
But that price is great.
Maybe I'll pick up a 64 pack. Gotta make the $6 shipping worth it.
I found it funny that the pro cells were more.
I don't mind them but I have notice the ones I get from work and use there don't last very long compared to copper tops.
I also just picked up a 12 pack of procells on Amazon for 16 so I think I'm good for a bit.
I use the AA rechargeables for all my AA stuff but the 9v I think I'll just stick to alkalines
