Since the F-75 takes only 4 cells . . .

I say 4 cells since a battery is comprised of cells i.e. a 9v battery has cells within it.

Anyway, I wonder why this takes only 4 cells and most other detectors take 8?

I guess the output power is not compromised by only having 4 rather than 8 cells and rather than using two 9 volt batteries such as in my C$.

I wonder if I can still use my 1.2 volt rechargeable cells? That would only give it a total of about 4.8 volts to work with. Of course alkalines would only give it 6 volts.

as to power supply. Going surface mount with modern components means you can get down to 3V supplies.
