Since sometimes this is a detecting forum, thought I'd post another UK find ....

.... Kind of a "ho-hum" find for Brits, but a neat find for me. I may have posted this photo before but have received further information about it.

This is a very heavy, almost 1" wide, lead backed, "silvered" button with the loop still in place. Some have called it a livery button, others call this style a marriage button or marriage livery button.

The crown on top means the family's were "royals", the other crowns represent their position in the royal "pecking order" ... still researching that. The other heraldic symbols represent the two family names: Douglas-Pennant.

Bubba is researching the symbols on one of James's buttons .... a raccoon making love to a coon dog standing beside a 55 gallon oil can cut in half with lots of ribs cooking on top immediately below an AU baseball hat all torn up from Tiger scratches, next to a cooler full of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.... hummmmmm?

as far as Bubbas button...
I believe there are several rare types....
there's the..... "aw shucks" backmark
and also important in dating the age of this button....
does the coon dog have more than 2 teeth ? [attachment 35341 bountyhunter2.jpg]
