Does many of you still use the DFX detector.. ??

If you do still use the DFX what has been some of your experiences with it..

What program settings would you suggest for heavy trash parks ??

Can someone also explain to me the average best setting of the Filters ..... The setting you had the best luck with in a particular area you were detecting.. I know every area can be different. I'm just interested in reading your experiences..... which setting worked best for you and why if you can answer that ...

Thanks a lot for your time..and your knowledge....

Forget the forum....lets go to Florida and create some programs there! Its a chilly 82 degrees there tomorrow.

Elton, I used a DFX for the better part of last year and had a good year considering I did not hunt any new places. The first thing I would recommend is either a Whites 10 inch dd coil or the SEF 10x12 white coil. I hunt in the "high pro mode" with the filter and sweep speed at a lower settings. I believe there is a default setting when you use the lowest sweep speed and this would be a two filter setting. My mind is going blank so it might be just the opposite. The "high pro mode has little disc so it will be noisy if you get into a trashy site. With a dd coil and a slow sweep speed, you can pick out the coins from the trash. You can liken this mode to iron mask mode on an Explorer. Many people cannot deal with the constant tones. People who think the DFX is not a deep detector, think again. I have dug many silver coins in the 8 to 9 inch deep range. I always hunt with modulation on so these deeper coins will not be a classic "banger" type signal. The factory coin or coin and jewelery programs are not very hot on the DFX and no matter how I adjusted the detector, I could not get it to perform like it does in "high pro mode". Also, either a 5.3 or 4x6 coil works very well in extreme trash. It has been my experience that the 5.3 is deeper than the 4x6. Currently I have a VX3 so all the coils I had with my DFX are "v" rated and work perfectly on the VX3. After owning just about every detector made in the last 16 plus years, the DFX is still one of my favorites.
