Unfortunately there's still a foot and a half or more of snow in most places so no detecting. This picture was from this morning while waiting for my daughters bus to come.

So, I have been working on setting up some shadow boxes for a display at one of the local libraries. Hopefully it will lead to more places to detect in this historical area.

You can get the shadow boxes pretty darn cheap at a place like Hobby Lobby, especially with a 40 or 50 percent discount coupons. I just used a hot glue gun to attach the items so that they could be displayed vertically and transported without wiggling around. The artifacts are fairly easy to remove if you need to.
What's the use of digging up all this stuff if no one ever sees it since its stored away somewhere. My wife even let me put one of the displayed in our dining room, so it can't be that bad.

They look great Gary

Great idea Gary,
I work as a volunteer at my local historical society and can see this as a great idea for displaying my finds. Might I suggest that you number the items and include a list of what they are?

Thanks Guys!

Chuck, not a bad idea. Right now in the bigger display case I have labeled some of the items with an oval tag that I cut out using a punch from my wife's craft stuff. But a complete list would be nice.

Good looking project!

Those look really good, Gary. The ones with the map in the background look especially good!!

Very cool. The shadow boxes... Not the snow... well... I guess snow is literally cool but... you know what I mean. If your mailbox is completely under the snow does that mean you don't have to pay bills?
