Simplified Model of Input of EX

The illustration is a simplified diagram of the heart of the input of the Explorer. The transmitter and receiver coil are in effect a transformer with a primary and secondary. The soil matrix and any metal in the matrix is the core of the transformer. The shape of the signal in the receiver is amplified and then fed to a demodulator. The output is then filtered, averaged, and passed to the microprocessor. The shape of the signal in the secondary is analyzed by the microprocessor to ID the target. The first part of the signal is ground minerals and is removed so is not a problem. Any noise that is due to the factors already discussed is removed by digital filters. The demodulators are adjusted by sensitivity so the microprocessor has signals that are ground balanced and ready to by analyzed to ID the target.
