Simple first impressions of the Tesoro Compadre

First impressions are important since you don't get another shot at them. Once passed that's it and from that point your perspective changes. So here we go:

1. Surprised how small and light the box was. Kellyco boxed it inside a brown cardboard box the actual Tesoro box was really little. I thought "wow this thing will be super easy to pack and travel with".
2. Tesoro's package was factory sealed and upon opening everything was found to be secure and protected for shipment. May not seem a big deal but it is when something arrives tossed all over.
3. All the paperwork from Tesoro was there and packed in plastic along with a Panasonic battery. Everything detector wise was there.
4. The instructions were dirt simple and assembly was easy to do. The instruction booklet was on the cheap looking side and I was surprised there was not more promo literature in the box. That said
no real negatives I was buying a metal detector not a bunch of paperwork.
5. The unit itself seemed to be made quite well. Light and simple but it still felt like a study well made piece of equipment. I liked the color, Tesoro should have included the coil cover.
6. Installing the battery was easy. No rattles or other noises once properly assembled.
7. Turning the control knob was a nice surprise. It felt smooth and precise very easy to move with the thumb while detecting.
8. Once adjusted to my height the machine felt feather light and it was easy to have it glide over the detection area in use. The shaft has no wobble problems like other detectors I've used
9. The machine hits deeper than I had expected. It also pinpoints spot on in the center of the open coil.
10. Kneeing down to dig the unit is easy to pickup and use from the front stem for close up pin pointing.
11. The small simple stand at the rear of the handle easily keeps the unit from flopping on it's side when you set it down. The low center of gravity helps. My other machine falls over it you don't take care.
12. The audio response is more than loud enough

There you have it.

well heck dont look like i will be getting a new Compadre in 90 days  i have had f2 gerrett 350 and i think the Compadre is more fun and better in that price range

Well wait till you get it out side and play with it. You are going to love that little thing. It is so easy to use. It will let you know when it finds a target, Let us know how you did with it... KEN

I picked one up about mid November, 8" coil, got out about half a dozen times or so with it before the ground froze and the snow flew. WOW, was my first impression, and it has not changed any. In that short time I hunted my "hunted out yard" and found a number of things. First and foremost was a 1864 IH penny. Also found and old pocket knife, what looks like a old button(still cleaning, more to follow), and various other things. What impressed me the most was the depth this detector gets (located in Northern IL so fairly mild soil). For the money this detector "hard to beat".
