Thats how mine is...It will still catch a silver dollar at full disc but I never crank it that high. I put some marks on mine for referance where the various key targets notch out. For really trashy areas I use just past zinc-but I tested that spot & marked it for referance.
As of late I'm running very low discrimination as I'd love to find some gold. But as of yet nothing but a lot more trash & zincs.
Darkflight, thanks for the reply. I never run the disc that high, usually right at or below foil depending on the site I'm hunting. It still seems odd that you can disc out a silver coin at max disc. maybe all Tesoros do this.........thanks.......roger.
I don't know Joe d.When i crank my dis up to max on the sidewinder umax and the bandito II umax they both pick up a silver quarter(clear & strong) Maybe some more experienced folks can chime in to help out.I hope this help some.HH
Roger, I have never used a Tesoro that will discriminate out a silver quarter at max settings. I have used many different Tesoro's, but have never used a Silver UMax.
Does not sound right to me. Just call the factory, if no one else has a Umax to check for you.
Good Hunting,
Clyde(La.)
I don't think that I've heard of ANY TWO Silver uMaxes having the same discrimination .... Maybe Tesoro makes so many of them and they are a big seller , and perhaps they don't have the time to dial them all in before sending them off ....I know my brothers came with no plastic coil nut and bolt, and the descrimination is surely off ..... Jim
BTW ...A Silver Quarter will STILL sound off at full descrimination ....Jim
the detector has been like this since purchased new a little over a year ago. does the same thing with all coils i have for it, anything just past zinc penny setting and it won't pick up any kind of coins.
Calibration? Yes, and it simply refers to the internal Ground Balance trimmer. Many Tesoro models can or will not respond to a silver dollar or sometimes a silver half, and on occasions even a silver or clad quarter, when the Ground Balance is adjusted to MAXIMUM 'positive' GB. A lot depends, too, on the particular model from Tesoro because with some they can reject a silver dollar when the GB is way too positive even if the Discriminate level is set at Minimum. On others models such as the Sidewinder
Well my question is, why in the world would you run your Disc that high? and yes if you Disc out silver, it won't find any, or will be extremely hard to.
