Silver with the Silver sabre 2

Here's a pic of the first silver Roman coin I ever found (using an ss2). It was, and still is, a great no nonsense detector! I still have it as my back-up machine. I'm using the Laser Hawkeye now, and have made some good finds, I'm still waiting to find my first Roman silver with THIS MACHINE! (maybe tomorrow). This is a denarius of Faustina junior (147-175AD). Hope you like it

dtekdave, I bet you have found stuff that would make my hair stand on end (except I dont have any!) and some of the stuff you guys find on your beaches has me green with envy! Thank you Scott for you kind words, I hope next time you go detecting, you will find something that will have you drooling, and I want to see pics of it when you do Paul, excuse my ignorance, but I don't even know what ED120 is
(yeh im thick!) Perhaps now would be a good time to go through my back issues of TH & Searcher! I'm near Oxford, where abouts are you Paul?
Thanks to you all, and good hunting

Monte is the man on this ''ED'' subject really but er's my effort...Exspanded disriminate..(Beer spelling)..lol.Older models ,,nah sod It..The 120 will knock out Iron on ''0''setting and ''0''setting on the newer 180 micro units would be an ''All Metal'' Jump In any time anyone!!
Charlie I'm down In rainy Cornwall (No Romans)plenty of Celts
Paul :0)

I think that unit with the newer coils the 8x9 and the 10x12 make that little detector a real powerhouse...Geo

GRRRR!!!! I have yet to find a Celtic ANYTHING! (if I have, I missed it and it's in my scrap bucket!). Lulworth cove is about 2.5 hours drive from here I went there in search of Portugese gold ... 6 hours later and all I had was 74p in decimal coppers!

That's great. Did you make it yourself? Looks as good as day it was dropped. Let's get this Big Freeze out of the way then maybe I can catch you up. I live in St Albans - lots of Roman round here but it seems that all the farmers in area have been told not to let us onto their land.
Keeps the pics coming - show's there's hope for us all.

Here is a reply I made on the 'Official' Tesoro Forum to someone who had one of the Golden Sabre models, but I have modified it somewhat to respond to your post and the Silver Sabre II. The Silver Sabre II was Tesoro's first unit to feature the ED-120 circuitry, if I recall correctly.
Many of the more popular discriminators early on used circuitry designs that cleanly rejected iron junk and small foil, or even medium-sized foil. At their minimum discriminate level setting they would accept US 5

Can I ask you a question? If my old SS2 is using the ED 120 discrim, what system of discrim is my Hawkeye / Deleon using ... AND if I set my discrim level to zero on the Hawkeye, will this be the same level of discrim as setting my SS2 discrim to zero Here's the deal! On my SS2 I used to run the discrim at Zero. This was plenty good enough for most of the sites I have. On my Hawkeye, I set the discrim to 'IRON' although you can set it lower than this if you want, but the manual suggests you turn it up to the iron setting. I was just wondering if this was too high if it's the same ED discrim on both machines the thing is, over here in England we have many desirable targets that are very small in size, and low conductors! I would hate to think I was missing this stuff because my discrim was too high ( at the iron setting).
