silver versus clad

Rob (IL)

New member
Do you notice any difference with the MXT in readings when you dig a silver coin, versus its clad type. Usually I read a quarter and then am surprised when it is silver. I might not be paying attention enough. Rob

Rob,

Depending on the soil I'm hunting in, my silver seems to read 1 over whatever clad is reading. So if clad dimes are reading 78-79, silver will be 79-80. The single quarter I found read 85 when most clad quarters read 83-84.

I've only found a small handful of silver dimes and only that one quarter, so my limited experiences may be leading me astray. So take this for what it's worth.

Gadget, that's were I am at this point 3 quarter, 7 dimes and and 2 war nickels. I didn't pay that close attention for a small difference. We will see if there are any responses. Rob
