Silver VDI 70s ?

First time out with the MXT PRO the only silver came in at 70s VDI good audio 6 inches deep nobody wanted to dig a zink, at that depth could be a ring but up poped silver to my amazement.Past experience indicated to me whats in the hole with it, out came a rusted bottle cap that layed right on top as seen by the stain on the rosi and the cap to the left in the pic.Two wheatys and old rimfire bullet 32 cal I believe the rest clad.

Congrats on a difficult silver! Just because its a good target doesn't mean it will have a good VDI. I used to be a bit discouraged when a silver or even an Indian or Wheatie showed up as considerably less than I thought it should have. I thought maybe it was the detectors 'fault' for not being accurate. In reality, these were all difficult targets that were a wonder that they even gave me as good of a reading as they did. Your Rosie most likely had many detectors swung right over it in the past. You can thank that bottlecap for preserving your first silver for you to find it. Its clear that they were both touching and would made a difficult target. You have to dig questionable targets to find what everyone else has left behind.
Is this your first silver? If so, your first silver was not just handed to you, you earned it!

PS: Whats the item on the right, below the .22 bullets? And its nice to see you dug nickel signals, I have found several silver nickels from WW2. I skip the signals that fluctuate more than 2 or 3 vdi's. If it is consistent at about +18 to +19, or +19 to +20, many times it is a nickel. I have even found some nickels at about +16 but those were deep V-Nickels that were pretty toasty. If the VDIs do fluctuate 3 or more VDIs, it most likely is not a nickel. A pull tab will usually bounce around more than a nickel. I've been convinced about nickel signals and been wrong many times, you just can't tell until you dig.

This is the first silver with my new MXT pro that makes 6 pieces this year 16 last year my oldest silver to date 1854 seated quarter,,,,,,,,,,,CEDAR

Congrats on your silver! Glad you dug it even with such a lower number. Any deep targets like that, I will dig them. Even a reading of 60 which could be a half dime. Anything deep is worth digging in my book. HH, Nancy

just found a small silver ring id'ed at 74 thats two silver items doing that same number.

Once my MXT Pro began to ID targets improperly.... and it was WAY off. It would still pickup targets and coins with a strong tone but the VDI # was much lower than it should be. I did an air test wth some coins and confirmed it. Example : quarters would ring up as 60s when they normally showed 82-83, Dimes would come up as 50s when they were normally 72 etc. I knew from experience that something was not right since the VDI ID on the MXT Pro was always very reliable for me.

I called Sweet Home and they informed me that it may need to be re-calibrated ? It did and they took care of it real quick like. Just my story.

CCH,
If its out of warranty, do they charge and how much? I've heard they go out of their way to keep customers happy but I havn't needed their help yet.

I sent in my IDX and the basic charge is about $55 plus parts and return shipping. Total price with the repairs and to replacement coils (959 & 5.3) was $95. Now its just like brand new. Always send you coils in. The banging around and high temperatures can affect the shielding and the null point.

My MXT Pro was still in warranty and I had that problem twice with the same detector. They took care of it immediately. They even sent me a pre-paid shipping label. I had to send another whites product back one time that was out of warranty and wasnt charged. Its been my experience that no one can beat whites customer service !!!!!!!!! .... and no they dont pay me to say that. :clapping: CCH

Whites is the best, Ive had two detectors fixed by them at a very good price and you wont find a nicer person than Mary
