Silver values

Hello everyone...been awhile since ive posted...but got question on silver coin value versus silver jewelry value...im missing a fact somewhere which isnt hard for me,,but seeing people offering 15 times face value on all silver coins while a heavy silver necklace isnt demanding high price..i realize older coins mean higher price but seems if coin is .900 silver and necklace is .925 that melt value should be more for .925...so what am i missing?....just the fact of coin appreciation?

It is nice to see you back Curt. Coin silver, .900 and pure silver, .999 are common trading commodity standards. Jewelry, .925 sterling will bring slightly more than coin silver if you were selling to a refinery, but the general public would rather have the coins or bullion than jewelry, and are willing to pay slightly more than melt value for the convenience of coins and bullion and pay less for jewelry.
