All right, guys. I hunted in Silver's all metal mode for a couple of days. I know that Monte has more experience and knowledge than I, but geez! I have enough nails, bolts, paper clips, staples to make me wonder just how much more I would gain from a Compadre. I would love to have one,but I can't see where an experiment with a hot rock would warrant the money in these times. I've found coins with iron beneath them w/Silver and that's gonna have be good enough for me.

It's rare that I hunt in all metal mode... with ANY of my machines..

So, I guess that would mean I'd be a good person to follow!
Maybe I clear scrap and clad out for lots of folks I've never even seen!

It's all good.

I hunt in either no motion all metal, or with no discrimination in the disc most of the time now.

I look for a target that has the right response. I dig iron if there is a chance of an artifact. I look

for a signal that is the right size and consistency for any artifact I may encounter.

I dug this brass navy belt buckle. It was so deep that I would not have detected it if I had used

any discrimination. It would not get a solid signal in the disc mode but had a smooth sound in

the all metal mode. That told me it was deep and I dug it because there were other objects in

the area that were very old.

I even hunt that way in very trashy areas.

In the past, I was scared to do that. Now it just seems natural for me to be the discriminator.

That way I get to decide what to dig, and not my disc deciding for me.

HH,

Thanks, guys. I like the parts about cleaner rejection and did experience the smooth sound in all-metal. Mine was a coin. And I was surprised at a few nickels that looked kinda glazed over that others must have missed. I guess I'll have to remember what the late Karl Von Mueller said, "everything found with a metal detector is valuable to someone in one fashion or another..."

Well I do not have a Silver, yet. When I am hunting with the Vaquero I use the discm mode. I like to run it one line below a nickle. It hits pretty good righr there. I have yet to try AM, maybe some day.

Tabdog that is a sweet buckle! I would like to find its twin, Beale.

damn right!..lately i have been needing an excuse to do just that!..gotta go 'tectin' to git a load off ma mind!
