I've been lurking on this forum and have seen little information posted on the performance of the Silver uMax.
For those who have one, what type of hunting do you do and is it a good entry model.
Thanks

dependable, and easy to use metal detector. Average depth of detection would be a penny at approximately 6 inches and a quarter approximately 8 inches...this based on normal soil conditions.
It is an ideal detector for entry level use as well as a backup detector. Most folks will use this detector hunting at parks and schools, but it can be used for relic hunting as per se.
You might also want to take a look at the Cibola. It is the latest model available from Tesoro that is in this price range. Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas) <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

It is an excellent coinshooter as have been all its ancestors.

I also looked at the Silver U Max for my first detector but I bought the Cibola because the price was not much higher than the U Max. I love the Cibola, I was using a borrowed Fisher 1266X and the Cibola if alot easier to opperate. I use my molstly for Civil war relic hunting but I find lots of coins in the process.Hope this answers your question.

My first machine, simple, reliable and easy, NOT reccomneded for wet beaches. I have since upgraded to a Fisher CZ-7 but my wife hunts along side with the Silver.
