just got one for my wife for Christmas. what are the pros and cons? the dealer told me it was a pretty good all around machine, easy to use and extremely light weight. My wife likes to go with me but her arthritis keeps her from handling my minelab exII. she really loves it when she digs a bullet!!! looking forward to your comments!

I've had a Silver Umax for about two years. I bought it as a backup or to lend out. I've used it many times, and it's a heck of a machine. It's pretty deep with the stock coil, and it's pretty good in almost any soil. Just turn down the sensitivity if it gets a little noisy, which it generally does not. In open fields run it in all metal and then click over to disc. when you get a signal. You'll be shocked at what you find with it. It's a serious metal detector, and it never lies to you.
