Silver uMax vs Quickdraw II

Hi All,
I would like to buy a good beginners detector and I'm offerd a Tesoro Silver uMax and a Bountyhunter Quickdraw II. Tesoro has a good reputation but the Silver uMax doesnt have some of the functions the Bountyhunter has like notch and a display. With the Tesoro, how do you tell what's under your searchcoil? or do you have to dig everything?
Thanks !

To add to what Andy has said, he is right that you don't need the display and the Tesoro will hold its value better (primarily because of their incredible warranty and service). If you should try both you will get the initial impression that all signals sound exactly the same on the Tesoro. This is how I felt when I got my first machine (bandido 2mmax). However with time you will find those beeps really do vary and will soon allow you to gauge depth easily and with practice allow you to tell junk from something worth digging. The display options and tones of the Bounty Hunter certainly are attractive and they are a good machine but in my opinion cannot make up for the extra depth, fantastic service and value of the Tesoro line.

everything they have said is very valid. I started with a Bounty Hunter(actually the radio shack version of the QDII), and I almost never use it now. I will occasionally use it with a 4" coil near playground equipment, but thats about it. The BH is a great playground hunter, but if you are like me, that grows tiresome after a few months. Save yourself some money in the long run and get the Tesoro, you wont be sorry!!!
J.
