Hello i was wondering wich would be the winner of the two for jewlry the Silver Umax or the Comadre. I have heard they are both good for jewlry any ideas?

I think they'd be close enough that you would do well with either. The silver does have the advantage in that you can change coils easily.

Yeah that's a tough one for me - I have done better with the Compadre because I have had it longer and used it more. Although I have had some good times with the Silver.

From reading Tabdog's and Monte's posts, I think the only difference would be with fine gold chains. Of course, you have to be in an a/m mode even with the compadre for that. Just make sure you stay on min disc, as anything higher with the Silver will miss the small gold rings. The Compadre will also pick up some tiny gold, but I've found earrings with my Silver umax, although in the a/m mode. Another area is if you come across tot lots or grounds with highly mineralized pea gravel, etc-the Compadre because of the ED 180 is able to go low enough in the a/m mode to handle the tougher situations.

Its not that it will find anything the Compadre wont. It is the same circuit, after all
But it has features the Compadre doesn't. Might as well get 'em. you know?
