silver umax verse the fisher coinstrike

clad king

Active member
just wondering if anybody has used them both and how do they compare. the good and the bad, i hunt for coins and do alittle relic hunting. i have a chance to trade my silver towards a new coinstrike and need your input. thanks, CladKing

I have never used a Coinstrike but if it is better than a Silver uMax it must be magic. I have never found a detector that is any better than the Silver uMax is on coins & jewelry. Steve.

correctamundo! It's a little noisy, though. It goes BWATT! BWATT! on coins and jewelry- "tic" tic" on iron that just is discriminated out- BWAAAAH! BWWAAH! on large objects in the ground-"blic" "blic" on lots of trash items-bulATTT! bulATT! on coins nearly masked out by iron and BLAH-BLAH=BLAH-BLAH on coins on edge. This is at the lowest discriminate setting. By raising the disc a little you can avoid some of these sounds-but you won't have as many CHING-CHING-CHING! sounds at the bank when you cash in all your finds:lol:

One is digital everything one is a beep and dig machine.. I used a coinstrike and liked it. Very deep, and very little iron targets dug.
I am not saying it's better, nor am I saying it's not...Just saying total different technology..

Let the reviews speak for themselves http://metaldetectorreviews.net/where-to-buy.htm ;) Steve.

Hello CladKing,

I haven't used a Coin$trike, but have a Fisher CZ6A.

It is definitely more powerful/sensitive than my Tesoro Sabres.

So much so, it is difficult to use in the shallow target areas I normally hunt in.

The Tesoro machines simply do what they are supposed to without a lot of hooplah and distraction.

Tesoro is much lighter, and more manageable. A pleasure to use.

Perhaps the smallest bits of gold have escaped me, and possibly the deepest.

I can accept that as a fair trade-off.

If I wished to purchase a new machine on steroids, I'm sure I would buy a Tesoro Tejon

Best,
