Silver Umax Scores!

My first silver find with the Silver uMax. This was found in a very trashy area of an old park. I had disc. set between pulltab and zinc penny with sensitivity in the red. The area was so trashy I could not go more than 2 inches in any direction without getting pops and clicks from the disc. Got a solid tone amongst the trash, slowed down, and zeroed in on it. About 3 inches down I saw the shine of the silver! It appears this was an old gravel road in the park that is now covered by grass. I pulled a lot of clad out of the trash in this area with the help of the Silver uMax's excellent target separation. The 8 inch stock coil on this detector amazes me. I knew I was in a good old area because last week I found a 1911 wheatie and a couple from the 40's. The ability of this great little detector to pluck coins from the thickest of trash just amazes the hell out of me! I can't wait to get back out there!

Wow what a beautiful coins very great detail still, lucky you! :) what state are you in? Just out of curiosity.

Nice big silver, appears to be a New Orleans mint mark too.......congratz!

That is a beauty Rainyday! The Silver umax is all you need.I know how awesome the Silver is,I used my detecting partners Silver. It is a very capable detector.Great for woods hunting.Smooth steady performance.WTG!:hot:

Man that's a GREAT FIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad that you clearly showed that you don't have to dig a lot of trash to find silver coins or need a VDI screen.

Heck, you don't even have to spend a lot of money to have a great detector if you get a Tesoro.

To top it all off, they run quietly and their light weight makes them a pleasure to swing all day long.

Rainyday you just keep raising the bar with the 'amazing Tesoro Silver

Thanks everyone.

I know this area has been hunted by other detectors as the park employee told me he has seen several detectorist in the park over his years. I think that with all the trash their detector of choice might not be doing to well, especially if you were trying to watch a VDI screen. I imangine the screen or multi tones would drive you crazy. Right now I am just focusing on the real trasy areas and doing really well on clad. I will try to find historic photos of this place to see how things were situated in the past to get a better idea of where people were in the park 100 years ago.

The Silver uMax has proven to me that more expensive is not necessarily better and simple is better. Turn it on, two settings, and let if perform it's magic.

Now I just need to find some real rings with the Tiger Shark, which by the way is one amazing detector also. Nothing can hide from this thing and it is a nickel vacuum.

Deliveryboy, I am located in northern Wisconsin.

Hombre, yes it is a New Orleans mint mark!

SpiritRelic, you are right the Silver is all one would really need, BUT I want to add a Vaquero to my all Tesoro lineup. If it is anywhere as near as good as the Silver or Tiger I will have all the detectors I need. (for now!)

Tabman, I will keep trying to raise the bar on the silver, but it would take me decades to catch up to your amazing finds. If I ever get down to your neck of the woods I will be sure to look you up.

My next place after I finish with this big old park is another big old park and then an abondoned public school from the 40's out in the country that has not been used for the last 10 years.

Oh everyone, and by the way this Tesoro forum rocks. I have learned more reading this forum and asking questions than anywhere else!

Way to go Rainy! Thats an awesome find! Just reading your post has made me decide to blow a 1/2 day off work to take my Silver Umax for a walk in the park.

I love to set mine where the tabs "click" reject. Find coins next to trash, and deeper! Have even found clad next to nickels and under tabs this way.

Mojotrout, I am glad I liberated you from work! I wish I was retired!

Nice find , when you find somthing like that it really energizes you , I found a like condition barber quarter in the middle of the farm feild it was a 1905, I see what you say in a trashy spot VDI & numbers would be very unstable , Like we all say somtimes less is more,

Once again (posted on your other post)....nice find! A Barber would sure perk me up!

I look at the large pile of clad that I have and just this one silver. Persistance is the word that comes to mind. Keep at it and find old places. The best part about it is that if it is real trashy it doesn't matter if it has been hunted before or not. A tesoro with it's excellent taget separation will pick out the coins others could not find.
