silver umax problem

New member
this morning in a park my silver umax would not discrimate anything out.no matter what setting i used.changed batteries twice to no avail.emubob

in discriminate and i flicked it back and forth through all the switch positions seeing if that would help,it didn't,emubob

what items were you trying to reject/Discriminate?

Was this done with the coil in the air, or with the target on-the-ground? I have seen cases where there's a big-sized good conductor buried at a spot and it didn't matter what small target you placed on the ground, the larger and higher-conductive object still caused a detector response w/o Discriminating effects from the small target.

With this silver it could be the toggle switch is stuck in all Metal, this happened to mine. The best way to tell if the switch is working is you should get a slight beep or chirp when switching between discrimination mode and all Metal. If it is silent then it is probably bad switch. You can clean with compressed air or contact cleaner while moving switch back and forth.

probably an easy fix , don't get rid of it . the silver is a very good machine. my favorite. of the Tesoroes.

Don't listen to him. Send it to me so I can be stuck with it!!:rofl:

pull tabs and i thought it may have an emi problem as i was walking through a place i have never had any problems before looking for fresh dropped coins in. and after reading your post this morning i turned it on up in the air in my back yard.it still crackled and popped.and there isn't any emi generating devices within cooing distance of our home.one thing that did happen i got caught in a rain storm before i could get the plastic cover on the control box.thinking about it, it may have a bit of water in the box and shorting something out.i'll put it out in the sun and see if that cures the problem.emubob

My Silver micro wouldn't do a battery check about the 3 week I had it. I kept activating the switch from disc -am- battery check and it eventually started working again.
