joe dirt_1 said:I used the Silver for a couple of years and it is a great little detector. I really like how it has a different sound over different targets....coins have that mellow round sound to them and trash has a harsh broken signal. The first hunt with my new Silver at a football field I had hunted alot got me a 10k class ring
on the first target I dug there. I hunt with a Vaquero now, but still regret trading my Silver

The Silver is a great detector.
Run your sensitivity as high as you can and still keep the machine stable. You'll get better depth.
On your discrimination settings: know that anything above foil will start costing you gold jewelry. But it will force you to dig a lot of trash also. There is no way to avoid that. Trash = rings (gold).
If I was in a mood to only coin shoot, I sometimes turned mine up past "pull tab" and dug mostly dimes, copper pennies, quarters, and bigger silver. Dug very little trash. I missed some things to be sure, but if I'm only in the mood to cherry pick, that
Wow! That's quite a recommendation!Dirt Poor said:The first Tesoro I ever owned was a Silver. I was a dealer for a while for Tesoro, too. That being said, I've used many Tesoros since the first one. The other machines are gone, but the Silver remains. Best model out there for land.
6". But in a/m mode about 2" more. I had a CZ-5 pick up a ring (costume) at about 8" and the Silver umax had a faint sound on it in a/m mode. Now that's a full 6" and that's deeper than most realize. That's in East Texas mineralized ground and could be deeper or less, depending on the ground.YosamiteDig said:What kind of depth does the silver umax get?
Thanks for responding. I was curious about that. You see all kinds of air depth test on a lot of different models on utube but I found none on the silver umax.slingshot said:6".
