Got the 3 by 18 inch ground sweeper coil today...Increased weight from 2,2 pounds to a shade under 3,4 pounds. Felt a bit strange to have that much weight..Could switch hands in swinging with no problem.Took it out for a joy ride at play ground, swarmed with kids.Headed for the grass. Getting good signals, practiced pin pointing with the ends.Decided to dig one very strong signal, expecting a tab, and George Washington flew out of the ground. Don't say "Dumb Luck", it was Skill, I sayes "Skill"!!!..I put several coins on bags of potting soil and noticed that the end pinpointing is fairly tight. .AIR TESTS,, (see my other post on retesting the Silver UMax for comparison.). Cent and dime 5 inches to 5.25 with a reasonable signal. Silver quarter came in at 5.5 ,maybe slightly better.....Barber Half 6 to 6.5 inches..I haven't compared these numbers to the previous air test results....What surprised the heck out of me was a very thin small silver ring clocking in at the dime level (5 inches).and, maybe a bit better....Dan Brown has a Golden UMax on the way, The coil will fit(I hope)expect a test for that machine. I bought Dave's(Jabbo's) Vaquero with a ground sweep coil as well, so you can expect another comparison there as well...Since I plan using the V (with ground sweeper ) as my main ground cleaner, this coil may come up for sale when all the tests are done.,I think this type of coil will work well on no or low grass areas to locate recently lost items. You can bet your imitation opal belly button that this coil is going to get worked over. Not scientific, but hope that the info covers the ground,,cordially NAD
