Silver Umax first hunt

Got my new Silver in and went out for a quick school hunt yesterday. This thing is a real joy to swing. Love the lightning fast response and recovery. Great descrimination, by thumbing the disc I could tell exactly what my target was. Since I was just trying to get a feel for it I had my sensitivity set at 7 just going for recent clad. Even at that setting one of the dimes was at 6". The 8" coil did ok in the extremely trashy areas by lifting the coil a bit but I think the 5.75" will be awesome. Mike

Congrats! The silver is an excellent machine. I LOVE mine. The 5.75'' coil is next on my list.

i feel like a surgeon when I have the 5.75 on.... you can pick thru the trash and when you hear a crisp signal you know right where it is,,,,

Grouser, just got home from a night hunt. My hunting buddy let me try his Compadre and that 5.75" is sweet. That coil is next for my Silver.

After several months of researching detectors I finally decided on which detector to buy. Next week I am ordering a Silver umax. Getting excited already :)

I know the Compadre has a different operating system than the Silver but I think allot of the success of that machine has to do with the lazer effect of that coil.. JMHO AND IT'S SO DARN LIGHT!!!!

That, and the fact that the disc can be lowered further and the circuitry design allows for small gold chains.

Monte, thanks for the info. I know what you mean about sweep speed. Each time pick up the Silver it takes me a minute to acclimate. I'm so use to the more brisk sweep of my XLT. If I go slower with the Silver it can really sniff out the good signals, even with the 8" coil. Mike
