SILVER UMAX did good in the wood chip lot today

I have a gopher digging on my old house lot so i set a trap for him and went to a wood ship lot with the Silver and 8x11 DD and set the gain at 7 and proceeded to search . i got things that have been left by others two nickels that were at 5" and no one dug the coil is light and covers ground well . Find of the day was 5 quarters right next to a metal pole for the equipment , I knew when i heard that two beep i better start looking , well 5 quarters and one dime and two pennys later i seen the power this machine has to get close to metal , i found the bling nest to a metal to it made the two beep that alerted me . well 2.70 in cladd is good for me . but i had to pull the gopher trap and missed him . so bitter sweet i thought of selling the silver so i could get a Tejon but could not bring myself to do it . you just can't beat a silver U for some hunting but i did close a deal with Richard from backwoods on a Tejon so I will have that for the old house lot to get deeper the silver is just not a deep machine , and my mirage is for the minerals and foil infestation a note about richard . if you need a machine give him a call before you close a deal somewhere else.

Gunnar, some lovely finds mate  sounds like you have a good detector/coil combination, out of interest what is a Gopher ??? is it like a 'Mole' as we call them over here as they can totally ruin a lovely lawn,i had one a few years back that came off the farmers fields that i over look and it done a massive amount of damage to the back garden, but got rid of it in the end with special smoke bombs.

Also known as a GroundHog (remember the Garrett detector), or woodchuck.
They have a special day over here called Groundhog Day.

Gunnar knows how to handle them, they try to out smart him, usually fail even when armed..........

Depending where you live, folks love them in stews and bar-b-q's

And if you go to Australia, you can order up a RooBurger and fries

Gunnar you have all your basis covered now. Smart move to keep your Silver and add the Tejon.
Anything in those Gopher piles, you never know what they will dig out.

Nice finds!

some of the parks I detect have roo's strange critters

they sell roo products in supermarkets these days bit to gamie for me , but if I was starving I would eat it.

Bro,

I agree with Sven. Check those piles of dirt the gophers dig out... you might get a nice surprise. I know I did. I was at a park and at the top step of an old stone stair case leading into the woods there was a freshly dug mouse hole. I took my coil and just ran it over the little pile of dirt. Sitting right on top of the dirt pile was a 1925 Wheat cent lol. That little mouse dug it out for me. That is one hunting expedition I'll never forget. Good luck with the Tejon and look forward to your posts. - Jimmy

Sven thats a good one , it is war tho you can't make peace treaties like we do with the Iranians. , Now jimmy you got me thinking the Gopher has already pushed up 20 or so mounds and the tunnel runs about 100 ft over the lot and is about 11 to 12" deep could be some finds in the throw out dirt i may have to go back tomorrow, Mega the gophers are different from moles in that the gophers really push lots of dirt out , some mounds can fill a wheel barrow as far as moles the U,K has the best mole trap out , but they don't sell thin hear I bet the Tejon will get the deeper things and a few masked Items.

Looks like you had fun.
I really like the wood chips! Especially about a month after a fresh new lift of chip are added. Seems things get lost way easier in woodchips. Almost all my gold finds come from them, 2 gold rings this year so far.
As a kid I remember having a lot of fun snaring gophers, we'd tie a snare on the end of a stick and wait for them to come up. Also had a bad infestation of moles or pocket gophers in our alfalfa field. I got 50 cents for every mole trapped, got pretty good at it after a while.

thump , moles are the hardest to get - and those gophers love alfalfa

If you can get one of these it's easy. Put it in the opening and seal it off with dirt so the only light/air getting into the mole hole is from the hole in the back of the trap.
Guaranteed you'll have it by noon or shortly after.
