Silver umax/Compadre day...

Well, I got the day off-but of course the schools were open and all my parks have been dead. I read on the Garrett forum where a ring was lost and a bunch of guys couldn't find it. One of the searchers took his son there on another trip and the son EYEBALLED the ring all the other guys couldn't find. So, inspired, I went to the trashy parts of some of my ballfields and stuck a 4" coil on the Silver umax and set the disc. at the point where tabs just crackled like Jack Gifford once suggested. Since the coil was so small and it would take a LOT of sweeps to cover the fields, I came up with the idea toe eyeball the search areas as I was sweeping in case any gold others had missed was visible. I almost couldn't believe the gold-colored chain! No markings-and when I got home it went straight to a magnet-RATS! The dimes and quarters started popping out of the trash-lots of dimes. I was shocked to hit one at 4" with this little coil-not that the Silver wouldn't reach it-but that it was so loud a signal. FINALLY, the schools were opened and I got to use the Compadre and found a few nickels. Thanks for looking.

Sounds like a fun day. I went to a local reservoir with the Land Star to hit the low water lines. Found a LOT of lead sinkers and only a few coins but had a good time none the less. Congrats on your day.
