Silver Umax & compadre comparison NO .1 video

videoI used to own a silver about 6 years ago , and got rid of it because it had no ground balance, and could not hit a dime at 8 " in my soil so i figured it for a dud , since that time i have tried out some hot detectors, Musketeer , SOV GT gold bug , bliss tool , Vaquero, cibola , what i found was in some situations, depth is not king , and the ground balance is not so crucial , so what do i need to search a grassy soccer field. when i only want to get to 4 or 6 inches and the ground is not badd, and i need a light machine by gully i find the silver will get the Job done , I like the silvers on off switch it is so quite the compadre could be used as a tornado siren. the silver has this nice soft sound on a lot of targets and is just as deep as the compadre. but the Compadre definitely has some edge with its ED 180 but even when set at a disq level on par with the silver it hits the thin gold chains better no doubt, neither machine will hit a nickel under a basalt stone , but then thats the relm of my P,I machine. I like the silver but am in limbo on weather i should sell the Compadre because its a micro hunter but I need a NEL sharp shooter for the silver so i may have to part with the Compadre both good machines

I just got a Silver last week and am really liking it. I have a Compadre also and I am thinking of giving one to my dad. I cant decide which I want to give up. THats a good video. I think that the Compadre will stay because I have added a connector and sensitivity. Its a hard choice. I am a fan of the 5x10 elliptical coils. Its probably my favorite size of coil. I wonder if a nel sharp or sharp shooter would make the Silver more sensitive to small gold?

Both good detectors, did fairly well with the Silver I had a few years ago on gold and silver jewelry.
With the after market search coils, you will probably have to re-ground balance using the internal trimer otherwise the detector may become too chatty.
If you go for one, let us know how it works out.

The Compadre is king when it comes to finding fine gold necklaces. The Silver µMax does great when looking for coins, gold rings and other larger jewelry.

You called it right, the Silver µMax does have a pleasing audio response.

Just did another test this time using a thin silver chain ,and a gold crown, & a half of a ring - also I was able to get the 6" dime in my test bed out side the silver hit it with a soft signal in both all metal & disq not badd for this machine.

I just ran another test on the compadre vs the silver. I had 2 14k white gold rings 1 big and one small. The both rings about 6" down. The small ring totally vertical and the large flat. The compadre 7" stock coil with disc set at n in iron out performed the silver set at minimum disc with the 8"stock coil. The compader is a killer on gold. I think the silver will be the one to sell, I am mostly a park jewelry hunter.

machine man you are so right , the compadre is a gold getter, no doubt its better than the silver , on gold

Hey Kaolinwasher, I watched your 2 video's yesterday.
This afternoon I took my Compadre and set it at a hair just above the F in foil, found some soft ground at a local park and found these goodies.

A 5.0grams mens silver wedding band, a junk ring, a Disneyland copper flat and about $4.00 in clad.

Thx., for posting those video's!

I almost always run my compadre about the n in iron. I dig all clean repeatable signals. If they crackle badly I skip them. This is the bast way I have found to run mine. I still dig foil but usually just larger pieces. I will try to get a video comparing these 2 machines later on in the week. I just did this one with my Silver and GBP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEM08tZTidc
